Aquaculture Startup eFishery Appoints Former Regal Springs Boss as Non-Executive Director

Bandung, 16 February 2021 – eFishery, Asia's largest aquaculture startup, appointed Achim Eichenlaub as Non-Executive Director.

Achim's previous experience as CEO of Regal Springs was one of several frozen food companies and made him a company that vertically connected Tilapia to become one of the most consumed fish. In addition, with his experience in the FMCG industry he has succeeded in expanding his product line to become a leader in the United States and European markets. This is especially relevant for eFishery which is also preparing for further expansion.

eFishery CEO Gibran Huzaifah said his company needed someone with more experience in this field in developing the eFishery business. This startup, which has just received Series C funding from Temasek, Softbank Vision Funds 2, Sequoia, Go-Venture and Northstar Group in January 2022, has a target to expand and provide comprehensive and integrated services, from cultivation operations, financing to distribution.

Gibran sees that Achim has a vision that is in line with eFishery in advancing aquaculture in Indonesia. It is believed that Achim's experience and knowledge in the global market and seafood industry will make eFishery a major player in the global aquaculture market.

“Achim shares the same vision with us. In addition, he has superior experience and expertise in the distribution of fish and shrimp aquaculture products. In addition, with his experience in the international market, I am sure we will soon be able to develop the US and European markets," said Gibran.

“We hope that Achim can provide direction for eFishery to grow to that scale; reach 1 million fish farmers over the next three to five years and continue to increase the positive socio-economic impact in this aquaculture ecosystem, especially for farmers and develop international markets so that fish from Indonesia are widely consumed all over the world.”

Last year eFishery recorded a company increase of up to eight times compared to the previous year. In addition, the innovation created by eFishery has helped cultivators increase their production capacity by 26%. In addition to helping farmers increase their income up to 45%, eFishery is also participating in realizing the government's target to increase shrimp exports to 250% in 2024. In 2021, more than 40,000 cultivators have joined eFishery, and this year it will expand its market, so that eFishery will become major player for global fish supply.
