eFishery has always been committed to helping Farmers grow and develop since it was founded in 2013. To better understand the impact of its ecosystem on the Aquaculture industry, eFishery collaborates with LD FEB UI to conduct research on active users.
By utilizing a systematic random sampling technique, this research provides valuable insight into the effectiveness of the eFishery approach in supporting Farmers. What are the findings? Come on, read this article to the end!
eFishery's Contribution to the Indonesian Aquaculture Industry
Based on research results, eFishery's contribution to the Indonesian Aquaculture sector's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2022 will reach IDR 3.4 trillion, which is equivalent to 1.55% of the sector's total GDP. These findings show that eFishery has had a significant positive impact on Indonesia's economic growth, especially in the Aquaculture sector.
This research also shows that eFishery has had a significant impact on fish farmers and shrimp farmers. Medium-scale cultivators experienced the highest growth, namely 88.7%, followed by large-scale cultivators at 21.5%, and small-scale cultivators at 1.2%. In other words, small, medium and large scale cultivators experience positive changes in their average income.
This shows that eFishery has helped improve the welfare of the Farmers. By providing access to affordable technology and services, eFishery helps Farmers to increase their income through increased production and business efficiency.
eFishery products
The superior products from eFishery have created a positive impact on the profitability of the Aquaculture business, increasing by +34.1%. These superior products include eFisheryKu, Kabayan, and eFeeder, with increases of 45.6%, 40.7% and 14.9% respectively.
Technological Cultivation with eFisheryKu
The eFisheryKu application has proven to have a significant impact in the field, which is reflected in an increase in profits reaching 45.6%. eFisheryKu makes it easier for fish cultivators to carry out a number of activities, such as buying feed, selling crops, and cultivating educational facilities.
Through eFisheryKu, Fish Farmers can experience a more efficient and productive farming experience. This application provides easy and fast access to accurate and up-to-date information about the best cultivation technology. Thus, fish cultivators can improve productivity and better optimize the performance of their aquaculture business.
eFeeder productivity
eFeeder is the first product that has become a mainstay of eFishery since it was founded until now. By using the eFeeder, farmers can monitor the quality and quantity of feed given to fish or shrimp in real-time real-time, so that it can adjust the feeding according to needs. This helps prevent overfeeding or underfeeding, which may affect the growth and health of fish or shrimp.
In this research, it was found that the use of eFeeders had increased the crop productivity of cultivators based on the FCR (Feed Conversion Ratio) of 1.09. FCR is the ratio between the weight of the feed given and the weight of the fish or shrimp harvested. The lower the FCR value, the more efficient the fish or shrimp production is.
Growth in the Aquaculture sector economy can also be caused by an increase in biomass which can be measured by Average Daily Gain (ADG) and Average Body Weight (ABW). For example, the ADG for catfish fed conventional feed ranged from 1.27 to 1.93, while the average ADG for fish farmers using eFeeders was 2.28. This shows that the production of cultivators included in the eFishery ecosystem is more efficient in shorter cycles.
This increase in productivity has a positive impact on the profits of the cultivators, which can increase the competitiveness and growth of the aquaculture sector in Indonesia. In addition, eFeeder also helps cultivators to save on operational costs and increase production efficiency, so they can achieve bigger and better quality yields.
Average harvest weight increased to 29.3% for fish farming and 11.8% for shrimp farming after using the eFeeder production facility during 2021 and 2022, and contributed to +15% profit growth in 2022.
Kabayan success
The Kabayan Program is a program that provides inclusive access to financial institutions that are supervised and registered with the Financial Services Authority* for cultivators, particularly fish cultivators.
Since its launch in 2020, the Kabayan program has assisted more than 15,000 fish farmers with a total support of IDR 692.4 billion. Realization of the Kabayan program has increased significantly by up to 2.5 times to reach more than IDR 228 billion in 2022.
Through the Kabayan program, fish farmers can get support of up to 45 million Rupiah per person, which is almost the same as the monthly income of fish farmers who use services from eFishery. This is of course very helpful for fish cultivators to be able to increase production and scale their business.
Building Optimism in Growing Together
This research also shows that the presence of eFishery has had a positive impact on the optimism of fish farmers and shrimp farmers to build and grow their business in the future. More than half of the Farmers (58.7%) are optimistic about the future, while the other half (17.9%) are even more optimistic.
In terms of specifics, among Fish Farmers, 57.1% feel optimistic and 18.7% feel very optimistic about the future. Shrimp farmers also showed high optimism, with 78.9% feeling optimistic and 3.3% feeling very optimistic. This showed the Cultivator's confidence in their ability to advance their business.
