Vannamei shrimp FCR is the ratio of the amount of feed needed to produce growth in the weight of 1 kg of shrimp. The lower the FCR, the better because shrimp use the feed they consume optimally for their growth. Causes of High Vaname Shrimp FCR Value 

FCR (Food Conversion Rate) or the value of the feed conversion ratio is influenced by several factors, namely: 

1. Shrimp Stocking Density

The denser the number of shrimp stocked in the pond, the more feed needed and the more vulnerable it will be overfeeding. This will cause the FCR value to be high.

2. Shrimp Age

The older the shrimp, the greater the amount of feed the shrimp needs to grow. When the age of the shrimp gets older, you need to manage the feed properly because it is prone to this overfeeding.  

3. Feed Quality

Poor feed quality will cause the shrimp to not get enough nutritional needs, so the shrimp grow slowly and the FCR becomes high. 

4. Frequency of Feeding 

Improper feeding management, including setting the frequency of feeding that is not appropriate, can cause a high FCR.  

Tips for Lowering Vaname Shrimp FCR Value

As a preventive measure, here are tips to reduce FCR values in shrimp:

1. Adjust the stocking density of shrimp according to the conditions of the pond, such as pond size, pond design, culture system, and so on. 
2. Maintain water quality parameters, such as temperature, pH, DO, etc., so that they remain optimal. This is to keep the shrimp from stress so that the shrimp metabolism remains optimal.
3. Feed fermentation. This fermentation is carried out to support the growth and health of the shrimp because the fermented feed is easier to digest so that all the nutrients can be absorbed by the shrimp. Feed fermentation can use POC, molasses, probiotics, and minerals.  
4. Administration of probiotics. Giving probiotics functions as a counterweight to microorganisms in the digestive tract so that they can increase the absorption of nutrients in the shrimp's body. 
5. Feed management. Feed management is important to do because feed is the biggest indicator in shrimp farming. The better the quality and regulation of shrimp feeding (frequency and amount of feed), the lower the FCR value. The method of feeding also affects the FCR value, because if the method of feeding the shrimp is not appropriate, then the feed will not be eaten by the shrimp and will be wasted.
